Federal Shutdown – SNAP Benefits Update

Where to find Food Support

Help with finding food assistance during the shutdown:

Due to the ongoing federal shutdown, the issuance of November SNAP benefits may be delayed, as these benefits are fully funded by the federal government. The Health Care Authority (HCA) continues to monitor the situation closely and will issue benefits as soon as federal funding becomes available.

There are no other program changes at this time. HCA will continue accepting and processing SNAP applications, reported changes, and renewals as usual. Once the federal shutdown ends and additional guidance is received from the Food and Nutrition Service (FNS), HCA will act quickly to distribute benefits.

FNS will continue to provide updates to New Mexico and other states as more information becomes available.

SNAP Benefit Frequently Asked Questions

Can I still use left-over benefits from previous months in November?

At this time any benefits currently left on your EBT card from previous months can be used.

If I am repaying some of my SNAP benefits back to HCA out of my monthly SNAP allotment, will they take that amount still?

Yes, the amount that is being recouped from your monthly SNAP allotment will still be taken out once the federal government releases funding for SNAP benefits.
