LOOKING FOR ASSISTANCE
The Health Care Authority’s mission is: We ensure that New Mexicans attain their highest level of health by providing whole-person, cost-effective, accessible, and high-quality health care and safety-net services.
State General Funded Services
State General Fund services provide state-funded support for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), or children at risk of developmental delay, who are currently not receiving services through a DDSD Medicaid waiver (e.g., DD Waiver, Mi Via, or Medically Fragile Waiver) or Community Benefits. SGF plays a critical role in ensuring that New Mexicans of all ages with IDD and children at risk of delay have access to supports. It helps promote independence, inclusion, community participation, and gives families relief and support when needed.
Available Services:
Residential Services
Residential services are available to adults 18 and older. Residential services are provided in accordance with each individual’s Individual Service Plan. The use of natural and generic supports is encouraged to promote the individual’s inclusion in the community as well as to reduce the need for paid provider services.
Supported Living includes personal care, and daily living and social skills training services on a 24-hour basis while living in a home setting with no more than four individuals.
Independent Living Services provide support that enables individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live independently in their own home or with family members. Staff provide support on a planned periodic schedule, averaging at least 20 hours per week.
Adult Day Services
Adult Day Services are available to adults aged 18 or older with IDD. Adult Day services are designed to assist an individual to increase their independence, to establish or strengthen interpersonal relationships, to join social networks, and to participate in typical community activities that are directly linked to their Individual Service Plan (ISP).
Community Integrated Employment
Community Integrated Employment (CIE) is a service available to adults in SGF Adult Day services. CIE activities support individuals to obtain and maintain employment in the community. Services are individualized to meet the needs, interests and skills of the individual that is being supported. Employment services support individuals in jobs that are in integrated businesses, industries, or government environments.
Respite Services
Respite services offer flexible, short-term care to children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) as well as children who are at risk of developmental delay. This support gives families and primary caregivers a much-needed break from the daily demands of caregiving, while ensuring their loved one continues to receive appropriate care and supervision. Respite helps nurture healthy development, family resilience, and community inclusion.
