Mi Via Services & Supports
The Mi Via Waiver program provides an array of living supports (for adults only), community membership supports, health and wellness supports and other related supports and goods. The program is funded with state general funds appropriated by the New Mexico State Legislature and is matched with federal funds from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Mi Via Waiver services are intended to add to, not replace, other supports a person has like medical services through New Mexico’s Medicaid State Plan, natural supports and other community services.

Covered Services
The following is a list of covered services for the waiver program. Detailed descriptions, age requirements and requirements for providers (Individual or Vendor) of the services are detailed in the Mi Via Waiver Service Standards.
Consultant/Support Guide Services
Consultant Support Guide Services are person-centered and are intended to educate, guide and assist participants to make informed planning decisions about services and supports.

Community Membership Supports
Includes community direct support services, customized community group support services and employment support services.

Living Supports
Includes homemaker/direct supports (for ages 21 and over), home health aid services (for ages 21 and older) and in home living services (for ages 18 and older).

Health and Wellness Services
Includes extended state plan skilled therapies for adults (physical therapy, speech and communication therapy, occupational therapy), behavior support consultation, nutritional counseling, private duty nursing for adults; and specialized therapies such as acupuncture, biofeedback, chiropractic, cognitive rehabilitation therapy, native American healing, hippotherapy, massage therapy, play therapy and naprapathy.

Includes emergency response, environmental modification, respite, related goods, and transportation.

Services for Children
Not all services are available to children. These services include any services that are in-living supports (home health aide, homemaker/direct and in home living supports), extended state plan for skilled therapies for adults (OT, PT and SLP) and private duty nursing for adults.
Children also have access to services such as: the Medicaid school-based services program, the Medicaid Early Periodic Screening Diagnosis and Treatment (EPSDT) program, services offered by the New Mexico State Department of Education, or the Family Infant Toddler program. For the purposes of EPSDT service eligibility, child means an individual under the age of 21.
