LOOKING FOR ASSISTANCE

The Human Services Department mission is: To transform lives. Working with our partners, we design and deliver innovative, high quality health and human services that improve the security and promote independence for New Mexicans in their communities.

Brain Injury Services Fund Program

The Brain Injury Services Fund (BISF) Program, also known as the Brain Injury Program, offers service coordination and Home and Community Based Services, including Professional Life Skills Coaching, to eligible residents of New Mexico statewide. This program is designed to be a short-term crisis interim program, which assists individuals living with brain injury to greater independence in addressing a crisis situation.

Individuals are eligible for services if they
1) have been diagnosed with a brain injury, which has been confirmed by a licensed medical professional or psychologist;
2) are New Mexico residents;
3) have a crisis need the program can help with; and
4) are unable to qualify for Medicaid Centennial Care or Community Benefit.

Individuals who reside in institutions are not eligible to receive services, unless discharge is planned within 30 days. The BISF Program is funded from a $5 fee that is added to all New Mexico traffic violations. For more program information or an application, click here.
