Winter Clothing Allowance to Help More Than 15,000 NM Children
Today, the New Mexico Human Services Department announced an additional clothing allowance that will help more than 15,000 children throughout New Mexico. Effective Jan. 1, eligible households will receive an additional $50 per child to buy clothes for the second half of the school year.
New Mexico Launches Behavioral Health and Veterans Online Portals
The New Mexico Human Services Department (HSD) and New Mexico Department of Veterans’ Services (DVS) have launched new online portals that will act as “one-stop shops” to help people find and navigate the behavioral health-related and veterans services available to them.

New Mexico Recognized for Raising Awareness of Prescription Drug Abuse
The New Mexico Human Services Department’s (HSD) campaign to raise awareness of prescription drug abuse, called A Dose of Reality, has been awarded the 2015 Silver Cumbre Award for public service campaigns from the New Mexico chapter of the Public Relations Society of America.
New Report Shows Significant Improvement for Mental Health in New Mexico
Today, New Mexico Human Services Department Cabinet Secretary Brent Earnest announced that New Mexico has improved ten spots in Mental Health America’s annual rankings, The State of Mental Health in America. New Mexico showed significant improvement across the board in these rankings, including overall, adult, youth, need, and access categories.

Centennial Care Public Forum
The State invites you to participate in a public forum and provide meaningful comments about Medicaid’s Centennial Care program. The State looks forward to receiving the public’s feedback about its managed care program during the first 18 months of its implementation. Per its agreement with the federal government, the State may hold the public forum as part of its Medicaid Advisory Committee (MAC) meeting. The forum will take place at the next MAC meeting on Monday, November 23rd, from 1-4pm at the Garrey Carruthers State Library in Santa Fe. Providers, members, advocacy groups and other parties interested in discussing the Centennial Care program are welcome to attend. We look forward to your participation. For the fourth year in a row, Governor Susana Martinez announced the success of New Mexico’s annual child support bench warrant round up. This year’s program collected more than $150,000 in unpaid child support.

SNAP Fraud Alert
There have been reports of the general public receiving unsolicited calls from what appears to be the SNAP toll free information hotline number: 1-800-221-5689. The unsolicited callers are requesting personal information offering assistance for filling out a SNAP application or other non-SNAP related services such as home security systems. Never provide personal information or your credit card number over the phone to unsolicited callers. This outside entity that has “spoofed” the SNAP toll free information hotline number is not affiliated with FNS or SNAP. If you suspect that you are receiving illegitimate calls from 1-800-221-5689, you may file a complaint with the FCC. Governor Susana Martinez Announces Expansion of Statewide Mental Health Crisis Hotline
Today, Governor Susana Martinez announced the expansion of the state’s mental health crisis hotline, a phone line established in 2013 that provides New Mexicans access to local assistance and resources during a mental health crisis. The expansion of the New Mexico Crisis Line (NMCAL) includes additional funding and certified peer counselors, which will help improve access to treatment and care to New Mexicans or their loved ones experiencing mental health or behavioral health crises.

For the third year in a row, Governor Martinez announces a two-part crack-down on non-custodial parents who aren’t paying child support. The child support bench warrant operation starts August 4 and continues through the end of August.
Coverage of Naloxone Under Medicaid Announced
The New Mexico Human Services Department and the New Mexico Department of Health announced that Centennial Care will cover a medication used to revive an individual experiencing a drug overdose. Naloxone, also known by its brand name Narcan, is a prescription medication that can be sprayed into the nose of a person experiencing an overdose from opioids (such as heroin, methadone, or prescription pain medications like oxycontin, hydrocodone, etc.) in order to reverse the overdose.

YES-NM now has three other features you can use: 1. Report My Changes: Allows you to report a variety of changes including income, expenses, household composition, death, births, address, and marital status. 2. Renew My Benefits: Allows you to recertify your case that is due in the following month. 3. Check My Benefits: Allows you to view information about your case including the status of your benefits, any upcoming or missed appointments, any outstanding verifications needed, and the status of any Change Reports, Recertification or Fair Hearing requests.

Two BH Companies Repay Millions
The New Mexico Human Services Department (HSD) announced the release of two additional Medicaid pay-holds to agencies audited by the State earlier this year.
The Human Services Department (HSD) announced that it is replacing its aging eligibility determination system to provide continuous service to over 800,000 New Mexicans in need.
The New Mexico State Police, Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Officers, and other law enforcement agencies will begin the “round-up” portion of the Child Support Enforcement Bench Warrant Program for delinquent non-custodial parents on Friday, August 23, 2013.
The New Mexico Human Services Department’s (HSD) Child Support Enforcement Division (CSED) is encouraging every one of the more than 700 individuals with bench warrants issued due to delinquent child support payments to visit one of the 14 CSED offices across the state and pay up to get their bench warrant quashed before law enforcement begin their round-up later this month.
