SANTA FE – The New Mexico Human Services Department (HSD) announced two additional application sites for the public to seek disaster food Benefits (D-SNAP) today. The sites, located in Mora and Holman, New Mexico, join the existing four locations and all HSD income support division offices.
Impacted residents can apply for D-SNAP at the new sites and their hours of operation are:
- Holman Elementary School, 3549 State Hwy 518, Holman, NM 87733 – Thursday, June 9 – Sunday, Jun 12, 2022
- Mora Independent School District Administrative Office, 10 Ranger Way, Mora, NM 87732 (Monday only 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.)
Impacted residents can also apply for D-SNAP at the four sites below in addition to all local Income Support Offices until 6 p.m. Monday, June 13, 2022. The hours of operation are from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday in the following locations:
- John Marshall Health and Human Services Center: 1500 Walter, SE, Albuquerque, NM 87106
- New Mexico Highlands University, Student Union Building, 3rd Floor: 800 National Ave. Las Vegas, NM 87701
- Juan Gonzales Agricultural Center: 202 Chamisa Rd. Taos, NM 87571
- Eastern New Mexico University: 709 Mechem Drive, Ruidoso, NM 88345 (closed Sunday)
- All HSD Income Support Division Offices
“We encourage fellow New Mexicans to apply for D-SNAP even if they think they may not qualify,” said HSD Deputy Secretary Angela Medrano. “It truly is a case-by-case basis, and individuals should complete the application process.”
HSD encourages low-income New Mexicans impacted by the Big Hole, Calf Canyon and Hermit’s Peak, Cooks Peak, and McBride fires who may not normally qualify for regular food assistance to apply for D-SNAP in the designated locations and ISD offices. The Human Services Department provides services and benefits to 1,065,029 New Mexicans through several programs including: the Medicaid Program, Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Program, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Child Support Program, and several Behavioral Health Services.
