Working Disabled Individuals (WDI)

The Working Disabled Individuals (WDI) program covers disabled working individuals who, because of earnings, do not qualify for Medicaid under any other programs. Individuals must meet the Social Security Administration?s (SSA) criteria for disability without regard to ?substantial gainful activity?. The program also covers those individuals with a recent attachment to the work force. An individual is considered to have recent attachment to the work force if he/she has enough earnings in a quarter to meet the SSA?s definition of a qualifying quarter or has lost SSI and Medicaid due to the initial receipt of Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefits, until Medicare entitlement.
