Native American Clients
The New Mexico Human Services Department (HSD) is continuously striving to address the concerns that impact all New Mexicans. This includes the state's Native American population, both living on and off tribal lands. HSD's priorities include providing access for individuals to our programs and to strengthen our relationships and partnerships with New Mexico Indian tribes, nations and pueblos.
To help ensure that HSD is responsive to the needs of New Mexico's Indian people and to Indian tribes and pueblos, the Medical Assistance Division (MAD) has a Native American Liaison. This liaison assists the 22 New Mexico Indian Nations, Tribes and Pueblos, the Indian health care delivery system (made up of clinics, hospitals, and other health care facilities under the Albuquerque Area and Navajo Area Indian Health Service), tribal clinics and programs and the Albuquerque urban Indian clinic with matters related to the New Mexico Medicaid Program.
