SCHOOLS

School cafeterias throughout New Mexico receive about 16%-20% of their food budget in the form of USDA commodities. Approximately 80,000 breakfasts and 200,000 lunches are served daily to children in schools throughout New Mexico with the help of USDA commodities.

The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP)

TEFAP provides USDA commodities to eligible New Mexican's throughout the state. Five food banks in the state contract with numerous organizations to provide distribution of the TEFAP USDA commodities to eligible New Mexican's. The list of food banks and the counties they serve are listed below for your reference.
