About Us
The Human Services Department serves over 600,000 New Mexicans each month by administering several large state and federally funded programs. Our larger programs are:
Medicaid
Health insurance for most low and middle-income children, many elderly and disabled, and poor adults.
Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF)
Financial assistance and job training for low-income families with children.
Food Stamps
Support for low-income families and the elderly; providing access to food, a healthful diet, and nutrition education.
Child Support Enforcement Services
Assists custodial and non-custodial parents by ensuring that their children receive the financial support they deserve.
Mission
To reduce the impact of poverty on people living in New Mexico and to assure low income and disabled individuals in New Mexico equal participation in the life of their communities.
